Marketing and Outreach together? You may ask when these two teams were combined. Early in 2015 the chapter had an opening for the VP of Marketing position and the Board of Directors, always looking at ways to better serve the membership, decided it made sense to combine the Marketing and Outreach functions.
The primary function of both Marketing and Outreach is to promote the PMI-Madison chapter within the Madison/Dane County area and build PMI-Madison into a project management center of excellence and a recognizable brand within the community.
The Outreach team is continuing with its successful programs to provide project management education within the community and to establish relationships with businesses and other professional organizations. Activities include visiting educational institutions and businesses to provide basic project management education and attending Chamber of Commerce meetings to establish contacts with businesses and non-profits. There are several volunteer coordinator positions open, so if this sounds interesting to you please contact us for more information.
The focus for the Marketing team this year is to implement a better defined and more consistent Sponsorship and Advertising program. We have interviewed some of the best-in-class PMI chapters for how they make this work and have also had discussions with our local sponsors to see how we can make the process easier to understand and more efficient. We will be rolling out the new program this fall for a trial run with full implementation scheduled for early 2016.
Another aspect of the Marketing program is to establish a “Partner” program with some of our key sponsors. This program is still being defined but its goal is to establish additional collaboration and benefits (for both the sponsor and chapter) for the businesses that routinely work with our chapter. More details will be available later this year.
The Marketing team has a volunteer opening for a Director of Sponsorship and Advertising. This volunteer will have a lot of influence in implementing the new sponsor program and completing the design of the Partner program. There will also be several coordinator positions available for the Sponsorship and Advertising team
Enjoy the rest of the summer and we will see you at the next chapter event!
