Empowering the Future: Cultivating Volunteer Engagement and Leadership Development in 2025

In 2025, one of our core strategic priorities at the PMI Madison/South Central Wisconsin Chapter is to Cultivate Volunteer Engagement and Leadership Development. Why? Because our volunteers are the heartbeat of our chapter—and strong leaders don’t just appear; they are inspired, mentored, and nurtured through community and opportunity.

Volunteers Make It Happen
Every event we host, every initiative we launch, and every connection we foster is powered by the time, talent, and passion of our volunteers. In this chapter, we don’t just appreciate our volunteers—we invest in them. We believe that engaging meaningfully with our volunteers isn’t just good for the chapter, it’s essential to our mission of advancing the project management profession.

Building Pathways to Leadership
In 2025, we are strengthening our approach to leadership development with clear, intentional pathways:
  • Role clarity and onboarding for every volunteer position
  • Mentorship opportunities to connect new volunteers with seasoned leaders
  • Skills-based leadership development workshops tailored to real-world project and people management
  • Recognition programs that honor contributions, big and small

Whether you’re new to PMI or a long-time member, we want to make it easy for you to grow—personally and professionally—through your service.

A Culture of Growth and Inclusion
We are creating a culture where everyone feels empowered to step forward, speak up, and lead. Our aim is to foster an inclusive environment that welcomes diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. When our volunteers thrive, our chapter—and the communities we serve—thrive as well.

What’s Next
In 2025, we’re committed to expanding how our members can contribute, grow, and lead within the chapter. While some volunteer opportunities already exist, we recognize the need to offer more flexible, diverse, and skills-based roles that fit a variety of interests, experience levels, and availability.

In the coming months, we’ll be working with chapter leaders and volunteers to shape a broader menu of opportunities—from short-term projects to strategic roles that help move our mission forward.

Now is the time to raise your hand.
If you’ve been thinking about getting more involved—or if you have an idea, talent, or passion you’d like to share—let us know. We want to hear from you and make space for you to thrive.

Final Thoughts
Volunteering is more than giving back—it’s about growing forward. At PMI Madison/South Central Wisconsin, we are committed to making that growth purposeful, supported, and inspiring.
