Reflections from LIM 2025: Elevating Our Purpose Through M.O.R.E.

Greetings, Chapter Members,

I’m writing this from sunny Phoenix, Arizona, where I’m attending PMI’s annual Leadership Institute Meeting (LIM) — an inspiring gathering of chapter leaders from around North America. One of the highlights of the event was hearing directly from Pierre Le Manh, PMI’s President and CEO, who shared powerful insights about our shared purpose and evolving direction as a global community of changemakers.

Pierre reminded us that PMI’s purpose is clear and compelling:

We maximize project success to elevate our world.

That simple statement carries deep meaning. It’s not about maximizing project managers — it’s about maximizing project success. The distinction matters. Our goal as professionals, volunteers, and leaders isn’t only to strengthen individual skills, but to ensure the business outcomes of the projects we lead create lasting value.

Pierre also spoke to PMI’s vision for the future through the acronym M.O.R.E. — a call to action for all of us to think bigger and lead better:

M – Manage perceptions: How we communicate the value of our work shapes how others see project management.

O – Own project success: Accountability and ownership at every level are key to delivering true outcomes.

R – Reassess project parameters: The world changes quickly — and so must we. Staying agile and adaptable ensures continued relevance.

E – Expand perspective: By broadening our view, we connect across industries, disciplines, and communities to elevate impact.

In this framework, we can see how PMBOK represents our current state of practice, PMI:Next is our strategic direction, and M.O.R.E. defines our vision forward — the mindset that connects what we do to why it matters.

As we carry these insights back to Madison and South Central Wisconsin, I’m excited to explore how our Chapter can live out this vision — by fostering growth, driving collaboration, and ensuring that project success remains at the heart of everything we do.

Together, let’s continue to elevate our world through project success — and always strive for M.O.R.E.

Warm regards,
Rodney Wendlandt
President, PMI Madison/South Central Wisconsin Chapter
