Seeking Mentors
Welcome to the PMI-Madison Mentoring Program! The PMI-Madison chapter is currently seeking Mentors and Mentees!
The primary reason why our chapter has a mentorship program is to share our knowledge and experiences with each other, so we can be the best project managers we can be. Our successful projects are a positive reflection on our chapter.
Not only can you make an impact on someone's life, or learn something new that you can immediately apply on your project, you earn PDUs while doing it. As a mentor or as a mentee, you earn 1 PDU each for each hour spent working together.
In addition, the mentorship program gets chapter members involved as mentors, mentees or both. While getting involved, chapter members can enjoy sharing or learning many varied topics.
Example Mentorship Program Topics:
• Agile project management
• Learning project management in a specific industry such as health care or government
• Learn a new tool, such as Microsoft Project
• Learn a new process such as Risk Management
• Learn more about project management for beginning project managers
• Team building
• Managing large and/or complex projects
• Career Advancement
Mentorship Types
It is the PMI Madison Chapter’s goal to offer Mentorship opportunities in as many forms as possible. Mentorship programs exist in the following areas:
Chapter Member Mentorship Program:
The Chapter Member Mentorship Program pairs experienced PMP-certified project managers with chapter members who are new to the project management profession, or looking to expand their knowledge in a specific area.
Let us know what your interests are, and we will match you up with someone who is seeking knowledge, or someone who can provide their experiences.
Student Mentorship Program:
With Student Mentorship, we are seeking students interested in gaining professional advice from mentors who can offer such advice based on their experiences. Meetings are scheduled at your own pace, and can be online, by phone, or in person.
Students: This is a great way to help achieve your academic and career goals! Our Mentorship team will work to pair you with an experienced Project Manager with a background in what’s important to you. And it’s free!
Mentors: This is a great way to give back by sharing your valuable knowledge and experiences. You can also improve or practice your communication and coaching skills. Plus you will earn valuable PDUs!
We do require that Mentors be PMI Members, and encourage students to join as well. Ask us about student discounts!
Community Mentorship Program:
With Community Mentorship, we are seeking community groups interested in gaining professional advice from mentors who can offer such advice based on their experiences. This can be done in the form of presentations or workshops, as to be determined upon your needs.
Community Groups: This is a great way to help your group learn more about the industry and its best practices! Our Mentorship team will work to pair you with an experienced Project Manager(s) with a background in what’s important to you. And it’s free!
Mentors: This is a great way to give back by sharing your valuable knowledge and experiences. You can also improve or practice your communication and coaching skills. Plus, you will earn valuable PDUs!
We do require that Mentors be PMI Members, and encourage others to join as well. Ask us about student discounts!
eMentorship Program:
Our lives are becoming increasingly digital and Project Management is no exception. Young professionals who grew up with the Internet tend to be more comfortable building relationships online and more opportunities for online relationship building are helping to facilitate those relationships. Talking to someone digitally is not only quicker, it also breaks down the fear of sitting across a desk from somebody that's older, somebody that's from a different world than you; barriers disappear.
With eMentorship, we are seeking chapter members interested in sharing professional advice and experience in an electronic forum.
