Disciplined Agile (DA)
Project Management Institute (PMI) is working to broaden its knowledge and certifications with the acquisition of Disciplined Agile (DA). The DA toolkit is a comprehensive agile body of knowledge (BOK) that provides straightforward and practical guidance for choosing the “way of working” in a context-specific way. Disciplined Agile was founded in 2001, and is recognized as the #2 organizational agile framework behind Scaled Agile framework (SAFe). There is fragmentation within agile that is due to the lack of leadership, unprofessional behavior, and questionable certification programs. With this acquisition, PMI hopes to bring a professional approach with community support and a credible certification program to this framework.
The current certification levels reflect a Shuhari philosophy and are comprised of Disciplined Agilist, Certified Disciplined Agilist, Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner, Certified Disciplined Agile Coach and Certified Disciplined Agile Instructor. Future certificates will allow the Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner to specialize as a Lean Manager, Scrum Master, or Project Manager.
To help champion this new body of knowledge, PMI asked local chapters to identify a DA Champion. The PMI Madison/South Central Wisconsin chapter champion can be reached at PastPresident@pmi-madison.org. The DA Champion will lead local communities through educational opportunities and peer collaboration. Be on the lookout in 2020 for more information about Displinied Agile and how you can expand your agile knowledge into these new PMI certifications.
